Congratulation to PM Modi, HM Rajnath Singh, NSA Ajit Doval, Ravi the interlocutor and of course, Muivah the Supreme Naga leader for the historic PEACE DEAL which ends several decades of insurgency in the North East. While the talks had started way back in 1990 they remained mostly ineffective. I remember participating once in Bangkok, Thailand and then at the residence of former PM VP Singh. During AB Vajpayee's regime also, the NSCN (IM) leaders returned to India and held talks with the Centre. Former Union home secretary K Padmanabhaiah was the interlocutor of the Centre then. The UPA Govt. had succeeded in getting the Nagas accept the jurisdiction of the Indian Constitution in 2012 because of the efforts of Shri Oscar Fernandez, but it goes to the credit of our present Modi Government to clinch the peace deed and pave the way for violence free development of the North East region, as per his promise during the run up for the Lok Sabha elections. As rightly put by Modi. “Today’s agreement is a shining example of what we can achieve when we deal with each other in a spirit of equality and respect, trust and confidence; when we seek to understand concerns and try to address aspirations; when we leave the path of dispute and take the high road of dialogue”
The dialogue process should be earnestly invoked to resolve the long overdue Naxal problem in the red corridor.
