The latest Maoist’s attack on 40 moving Trucks (35 in Bihar and 5 in Jharkhand) and setting them on fire on the NH-2 Grand Trunk Road in Gaya and Hazaribagh early Monday morning needs to be severely condemned. Repeated attack of this kind are in no way going to help Maoists, whatever be the issues. I call upon all Maoists to see reason and stop all such massacres and destruction of properties – Public or Private as that would be the first step towards paving the way for talks and peaceful settlement of all issues. By indulging in mindless attacks Maoists are moving away from public opinion which will harm their own interests.

The Security forces should also desist from killing Maoist leaders in so called encounters, the way they killed Maoist woman commander Babita Bhokta alias Sarita on May17. NHRC should conduct an enquiry into this encounter.
